Come, let us reason together

Marilyn Appleby

meetingDuring our Friday afternoon Bible study, we talked about the issue of confrontation, and the verse above, (from Isaiah 1:18) comes to mind. The verse is inviting people to come before our Lord, to talk things through (by praying) and then to enjoy the cleansing of forgiveness.

"Though your sins are like scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they are red like crimson they shall become like wool."

Confrontation has connotations of argument and discord, but actually, sitting down with those with whom we may be in disagreement, to talk things through, to honestly express, and to patiently listen, to the feelings on both sides could lead to a settlement, an understanding rather than a conflict with neither side really hearing the other side of the coin. Sometimes confrontation is necessary, but we are to do it with kindness and respect. There are times when we may feel at odds with God, even angry sometimes, but he invites us to talk it over with Him, to take time out to be in His presence.

What an amazing invitation to spend time with the Saviour, to unpack all that troubles us, and to find the kind of peace that ‘’passes all understanding”.
