Breakthrough on Mental Health

Marilyn Appleby

reganMental Health is so often treated as the ’elephant in the room’, with much stigma attached to it. In actual fact, mental health illness is a real and debilitating condition which needs as much attention as any other medical condition or illness. There will be more people suffering mental health issues in our churches, our community, our families, (maybe even ourselves) than we may like to admit, or than we may recognise.

As a church community we may be asking ourselves how we might be of help to someone suffering mental health issues, or indeed how to recognise it in ourselves or in others. At this morning conference, some of those questions will be addressed, and hopefully there will indeed be a breakthrough in the attitude to Mental Health and its implications.

We are pleased to announce that we have booked founder of mental health charity Kintsugi Hope, Patrick Regan OBE (pictured), to visit St Andrew’s to speak about some of these things on 15th October from 10.00am. (Doors open 9.30) There will be a break for tea and coffee at 11.00, and the conference will finish around 12.30. Afterwards there will be a Bring-your-own lunch period for further discussion.

If you wish to attend, please contact the office or put your name down on the sign-up sheet in the cafe.
